Spirometry Quality Control Scale

In reality ... there is a scale of spirometry quality.

We’ve mapped this into a 5-level spirometry quality control (QC) scale - ranging from inconsistent, variable results through to full quality-controlled testing that is reliable, consistent, and clinically useful.
At lower levels, technique and consistency can vary.

In the middle, capability is there - but quality control isn’t always stable.

At higher levels, results become repeatable, reliable, and clinically useful.
Each level reflects not just technical skill, but also the consistency of technique, the frequency of quality checks, and the confidence patients and clinicians can place in the results when making clinical decisions.

Where do you sit on the QC scale?

And where do you want to be?
